Getting Ready!

We understand that many of you may be apprehensive about learning a new system and would like to brush up on your computer skills before embarking on your training path.

Below you will find links to exercises and/or tutorials that will help you improve certain skill sets.

  • Mousing Skills - This site provides many games and lessons to help you master your mouse plus extra tutorials to help you navigate through Window's based programs and the Internet.
  • Typing Skills - Click here to launch an interactive typing test that allows you to view your typing speed instantly.  Need some practice?  Look for typing tutorials that will be coming to this website soon!

Ready to test those skills?

Now that you've practiced your computer skills, it's time to put them to the test!  Novant Health's Corporate Education Department has put together an online assessment that will measure your familiarity with navigating through the Internet and using Window's based applications.  This tool will be used by the eRecord Education team to make sure everyone is ready to begin training on the new EHR/PM system.

To take the assessment, click on the link below.  The link will take you to the Novant Learning Management System, or LMS, where you can navigate to the assessment by following these instructions:

  • Click on the link below to access the log-in page - enter your employee ID and click Login
  • On the left hand side of the page, click on Enroll in CBL
  • In the middle of the page, click on the Curriculum drop down box, and choose Assessments
  • Click on Enroll beside the course title "Computer Skills Assessment"
  • Follow the directions to view the course and take the assessment.

You will see your score immediately upon completion of the assessment, along with a brief explanation of any questions you may have missed.   Want another try?  You can take the assessment as many times as you like, so go ahead and give it a shot!
