Objectives:

  • Review the risk factors for thromboembolic disease.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the effectiveness of prophylaxis in medical and surgical patients.
  • Learn the role of anticoagulants and mechanical methods in prophylaxis and treatment of thromboembolic disease.
  • Identify effective treatment strategies for un-revented thromboembolish.
  • Understand the expectations of national organizations for the prevention and treatment of thromboembolism.
