Objectives:	Review the risk factors for thromboembolic disease. Demonstrate knowledge of the effectiveness of prophylaxis in medical and surgical patients. Learn the role of anticoagulants and mechanical methods in prophylaxis and treatment of thromboembolic disease. Identify effective treatment strategies for un-revented thromboembolish. Understand the expectations of national organizations for the prevention and treatment of thromboembolism.
